The newest American Girl Doll movie has come to life on the big screen called, "Kitt Kittredge: An American Girl Movie." Kit always wanted to be a writer/reporter and now with times she’s exploring all. Kitt is growing up in the depression and really learns a lesson about it when her father’s car dealership goes under. Now Kitt must learn all about what it’s like to work for your food. It’s a great movie and one that should definitely be watched by the younger generation.
Little girls will love owning their very own Kit Doll which comes with her very own mini book for a whopping $13. Do you have this Kit Mini Doll? What’s your opinion of her. My daughters have been wanting to start on this collection since they were three. I may break down and buy them for christmas this year. Have your child sit down and read the book before watching the movie, there are a ton of fun ideas that you can teach your child after they read it. One in particular is having them compare prices from back then and today, or they can do a comparison between name brand cereals to non brand. Ask them ways they can have fun without spending a lot of money, for instance going to the beach, a picnic, etc.
What are some ideas you can think of? Do you think it is wise to teach children about money? I have always told my kids the truth about money, the good and the bad and hope that when they grow up they will never have the issues I have had. What about you? Do you share money stories with your children? Why or why not?
