Recall Alert

Monday, March 31st, 2008

Here are three toy recalls that you may want to check out in order to keep your children safe this year. Not to worry I’ll continue to toss out those toy recalls.

    An Easter Toy Recall:

Camouflage Easter Egg Treat Containers
Easter Spinning Egg Tops

hobbylobbyrecallsm.jpg
13,000 camouflage toy egg spinners were recalled when someone realized they contained lead paint on the outside of the eggs. These are from the Hobby Lobby and made in China, if you purchased one for your child this easter you may want to toss them or go to get a replacement.

    Baby toy recall:

Rock N’Ride Plush
Tek Nek Toys International L.P. has sold over 1200 of these cute little rock n’ride pony plush items, but the only problem is they have an unsteady base. There have actually been 35 claims of a child falling off, bumping their head or getting cut by the pony. These ponies are the ones that if you push on their ear they play a song or neigh. If you have one of these ponies go to www.teknektoys.com and email them for your free replacement base.

Recalls & Toys-R-Us

Friday, November 16th, 2007

Toys-R-Us has made this statement in regards to all the recalls:

We believe that when a product is recalled, the most important thing is to get that product out of children’s hands. To that end, we have instituted a “no quibble” policy when it comes to toy recalls. This means Toys”R”Us will take back recalled product whether it was purchased at Toys”R”Us or not - with or without a receipt.

We see ToysRUs is behind their consumers and wanting to make this holiday season a safe one for children. What about the rest? As I find more messages I will post them here. Remember folks, if your child gets a recalled product you can exchange it this holiday season. Even if you don’t have a receipt.

Thank you ToysRus!

Recalls from Spinmaster Toys

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

After last week’s recall of the AquaDots I heard there was another toy recalled from Spinmaster toys so I wanted to make sure it was one I didn’t have. Not to worry, I didn’t, but I thought ya’ll might or could end up with it on your child’s holiday wish list. So here is a quick list of their recalled products.

Aqua Dots Recall

Aqua Dots- Remember last week some children swallowed beads and the doctors discovered that the beads had a chemical that makes date rape drugs in them. Quickly these dots were being removed from consumer’s hands, those that were out there were asked to take them to get replacement beads or get a toy of equal value.

Aqua Dots Recall: You Don’t Want to Miss it

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

Aqua Dots RecallIt seems that every week there is a new toy being ripped off the shelf because of another toy recall. Just in time for the holidays? Are there any toys out there that are safe these days?

Shocking news to consumers as this time it’s a toy company that doesn’t have lead, instead it can be much more fatal. This time it’s a toy that consists of a drug…a date rape drug called gamma hydroxy butyrate. The beads in this toy are what is so harmful.

Recall: Glow Sticks

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

Glow Stick recall

Dunkin Donuts has issued a toy recall on their Glow Sticks that they passed out between September and October. Apparently it comes on a string that would normally be worn around the child’s neck (a necklace)to keep them safe on Halloween. The recall is because the string poses a choking hazard.

Ummm, I can’t for the life of me think why a necklace would get recalled. So, if you are really worried about your child wearing this necklace, you should take it back to get one of their free donuts.

Friday, September 28th, 2007
Gardening tool recall

Lead paint has struck again, in yet another kids toy, but this time the recall is for 350,000 gardening tools that are sold in Target. It seems they were only sold at Target during August.

If you are the owner of any “Happy Giddy Gardening Tools” or “Children’s Sunny Patch Chairs.”

Another Thomas the Tank recall!

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

Thomas Tank railway recall

The bad news is we have another Thomas the tank recall, but there is a bit of good news. If you happened to have one of these items, they will give you a replacement, plus a free gift. How great is that? Now, for all those worried parents out there, it seems that due to the NEW standards that is why the recall. Thank goodness, I know.

Toy Recall: Easy Bake Oven

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

Easy Bake Oven

It’s another recall, but this seems to be becoming a current event. This time a child almost lost his/her finger. Ikkk!

Hasbro has issued the call for the return of the Easy Bake Oven. These are the newer versions of the Easy Bake Ovens that looks like a miniature stove and has a scooper (shovel) that goes into the oven and scoops the muffin/cookie/cake out.

It seems that the little oven door is a trap for tiny fingers and once inside they can’t come out. Currently they state on the site that 249 reports have been made about little ones getting their hand stuck in the door. Eeek! 77 claimed they got burns and 1 little girl had to get her finger amputated.

So if you’ve got this Easy Bake Oven you may want to trade this one in for something else, here is the form.
