Penny the Piano Review

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

We received the “Music Learning Pal” from Little First Act Discovery for Little A and I must say this would be a very cute gift for a little girl under 2 years old. The 0430091538 one we got was pink so he didn’t seem to like it much, however his sister who adores pink loved it and claimed it as hers. Here’s the review:

Penny the Piano sits on her bottom and has her four paws sticking out. At the end of each paw you can push on them to do something.

Music note: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, clap to the beat
Music note with ABC: piano key sound, Penny talks to them about the piano and how she can be loud or soft. Sing in Harmony. Let’s warm up.
Foot: That’s my foot, let’s dance. Are you sleeping.

From the Little First Act Discovery site:

Penny Piano introduces baby to music learning through songs and interactive play. Teaches basic music concepts such as pitch, harmony, rhythm and more. Baby presses Penny’s arms to make authentic piano sounds, and squeezes Penny’s hands and feet for ABCs, 123s, and sing-along songs!

Two Interactive Play Modes:
Music Learning Mode - Musical activities and messages
Songs Mode – Sing-along songs and clap-along fun

Swimming with Seapals

Monday, December 1st, 2008

Seapals has come out with a ton of different sea animals to get your everyone’s attention, no matter if they are girl or boy. Here I’ll take you through virtual tour of this new line of sea animals and talk about our very own. Currently there are 16 different Sea Pals for you to choose from.

Blue Lobster

First up, we were sent a blue lobster. He’s very cute and soft, kids loved him very much. Even my youngest liked playing with him, so much that he’s been slightly chewed on at the tail. Now the eyes are hard, so you do need to be careful, but other than that he’s the perfect pal for my little ones. He does become a puppet when you stick your finger up inside him, there is a hole located (well actually right where you think) under his belly. This makes him become a great partner in a puppet show or just to show little ones that he can move.

Review: My Little Pony So Soft Good Morning Sunshine

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

Good Morning Sunshine: My Little Pony

My little girl wanted the My Little Pony Good Morning Sunshine so much that she begged for it for her birthday (6th) and Christmas last year. Santa brought it to her in the end and boy was she happy. Course we weren’t so thrilled when we had to take it out of the box but that’s another post for ya. (think kids boxes and all those ties)

She still plays with this toy, but now it has become more of her little sister’s toy (she just turned 4) I can find it in both girls’ beds late at night. It may begin in one bed but ends up in another by the next morning.

My Little Soft Pony interacts with your child and will make the little ones squeal with delight. There’s a button on her back and when your child rubs her back or gives her a hug she begins to come to life. This little pony wears her own pajamas and comes with her own baby bottle and pacifier. Standing up on all fours she starts right off by saying, “Good Morning, Mommy.” Other phrases include:

uh-oh (yep she’s made a mess, but don’t worry no water comes out)
Can I have a kiss?
Squeeze my hand please.
Let’s play!
She giggles.
I love you.
Brush my hair please
Sucks on pacifier (sucking noise)
yawns
Good night.

Once she says, “Good Night,” this is when she drops down into a laying position and closes her eyes.

I asked my older daughter a few minutes ago of what she thought of the My Little Pony So-Soft. “I like her because she’s so soft and talks to me.”

My littlest said, “She’s cute, I can hold her and she asks me to play.”

So there ya have it folks, this is straight out of the mouth of babes.

ELMO!!! But without the noise!

Friday, June 22nd, 2007

Bea recieved a little Elmo Mini-Plush in the mail today! Just the right size, not too big, not too small. The Tickle Me Elmos that are so popular are a bit too big for her and also I think they can be slightly overwhelming for a little baby (7 months), considering the toy is as big as her.

Sesame Street Workshop is a non-profit educational organization, so buying their toys helps fund their programs, which is always a good thing. Sesame Street was one of the few shows that I was allowed to watch when I was a kid and I’m going to have to start searching YouTube so Bea can watch them in Europe.

Jellycat Truffle Dog

Sunday, May 20th, 2007

JellyCat Truffles Dog - LargeTruffle Dog, who we quickly renamed Roger, was given to Bea when she was born. I assumed that she wouldn’t be able to play with him until she was much older, but as soon as she started learning to how grasp, he became her favorite toy.

Jellycat toys are great for babies and little kids for a number of reasons: a) the fur doesn’t fall out when they tug at it. We were given dozens of little stuffed animals for Bea and so many of them she can’t play with because as soon as she gets her hands on them she starts yanking at the fur, which usually comes out and the goes straight in her mouth. But JellyCat toys seem to be able to withstand the nimble fingers of a six month old. b) The legs are weighted, as in a bean bag, so the animal can lie flat.

I found this was great for when she was in her bouncer or playing on a mat. In her bouncer, I lay it across her belly and she grabs at the nose and ears without it falling of her and on the mat it lies flat next to her, staying in her field of vision.

However, JellyCat company went down in my esteem slightly when I checked out their website and found that they describe themselves as “a lifestyle company”. What is that supposed to mean?
