Crib Toys
I never really post about crib toys because Bea doesn’t sleep in a crib. She sleeps in bed with me. I tried with a crib, I really did, but it was a waste of time (for us). We actually have a really nice wooden Ikea crib that is packed up in the attic and we also have a travel crib that I insisted on buying, my argument being that when we traveled to family member’s houses, Bea would need somewhere to sleep. All in vain.
The travel cot is still out but we mainly use it to store toys and Bea plays in it occasionally, but never sleeps in it. Eventually I know she will move on to sleeping on her own and then I wonder if I will start using crib toys. Crib toys is sort of a deceiving word because cribs toys aren’t necessarily about playing. They are often sold as soothing toys. However, I feel that this is an area where you really need user experience to help buy the right ones.
What are your experiences with crib toys?

Our experience is similar to yours!
My son didn’t really start sleeping in the crib until around 13 months. He’s in there now, and I have no plans on our newest, “soon to arrive” baby using it anytime soon. She’ll sleep with me in the meantime.
Even though my son uses the crib now, he SLEEPS in there. He doesn’t need toys to play with! We have the Fisher Price aquarium thingie that he plays with occasionally, but it gets him so excited and happy, that it would be useless as “soother”.
I would recommend new parents just hold back on some purchases until they get a feel for what their kid will use and like. I feel bad we essentially wasted the $40 bucks on that stupid aquarium thingie.

We didn’t put our daughter in her own bed until she was 7 months and the only reason I did it at that point was because she rolled out of bed one day and I had the huge fear that she would get hurt next time. Anyways now she is almost two and she is still in the crib which yes I know she should be moving on to the toddler bed but she isn’t ready and I don’t believe in forcing her into anything like that. Anyways, she never used “crib” toys. She has tons of stuffed animals now that she has to have in bed with her but when she was younger it was like one stuffed animal and a blanket. Those crib toys that latch on I just never saw any use for. My daughter doesn’t play in bed she lays down and goes to sleep she just likes the stuffed animals there to comfort her. She still sleeps with us on occasion like if she is sick, scared, teething, or whenever we travel anywhere. But thats a whole other story!
