Hug-A-Hero Doll
Have you heard of a “Hug-A-Hero Doll?” I got to see what a Hug-A-Hero doll looked like back in 2005, my husband deployed to Iraq and I heard about these dolls that were made to look like those that were deployed. I had to jump at this one and we were one of the first customers.
At the time, they were selling out of a small shop in Jacksonville, NC and they held an event outside where they were taking photos right on the spot for these dolls. But for those of us that had deployed spouses or for kids that had grandparents in other states we could bring in a picture. Mine was the hardest at the time as they did full body shots, I only had one that was waist up, which meant finding someone else’s legs that went with the picture. They were great though and found a matching pair of legs. Within a few weeks we got our daddy in the mail.
The front of these dolls have the image of the person you want, the back is cami colored, pink, green or blue. Our Daddy Doll went everywhere with us and even today, my little girl sleeps with it.
